HFS Focus: Louboutin Heels

Over the past few years, Christian Louboutin heels have become the ultimate fashion accessory. Whether it's the signature red soles or the killer 5 inch heels, there's just something about Louboutins that makes every girl swoon.

Although many have attempted to copy, a real Louboutin is something special that just can't be recreated. Sure, the pricetag is quite steep, but it's the price to pay for true craftsmanship and luxury materials.

Facts about Louboutin and his shoes:
* The designer was freelancing for a bunch of big fashion labels, when he decided on a change of career and became a landscape designer in 1989. In 1992 he returned to his passion with his own eponymous label.
* The red sole was inspired by an employee's red nails.
* There are 12 Louboutin boutiques worldwide
* The cult Pigalle is the most popular model for the brand, exists in many different heights, materials and colours and has graced the feet of about every celebrity. See a little selection below!
* Last year, the brand launched www.stopfakelouboutin.com to stop the massive amount of cheap counterfeits, usually coming out of Asia. As they say themselves: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Buy the real thing!

At High Fashion Society we ensure that all items are authentic, by getting them checked by experts and by only accepting top quality items. Right now we are proud to have a pair of genuine pre-owned black patent Pigalle 120 heels in the shop, as well as some other models.
Check them out in our shoe section here.

HFS Focus: Vintage Chanel 2.55

Of all handbags in the world, none is more legendary and recognisable than the Chanel 2.55 Flap Bag: it's a true fashion icon in its own right!

This quilted beauty has graced the arm of the glamourous and fashionable crowd for so many decades and it's not bound to go out of style any time soon. Whether it's with a jeans or evening gown, this is one of the few bags to transcend all ages and styles. And although this is one of the most popular handbags ever made, very few people know the history behind the bag.

Essential things you should know about the Chanel 2.55 flap bag:

* The 2.55 stands for the date it was first launched by Coco Chanel: February 1955. The design hasn't changed since!
* It is often referred to as the flap bag, because of the double flap which you only see once you open it.
* On the inside of one of the flaps is a secret compartment, where Coco used to keep her loveletters
* There are 5 other compartments on the inside, ensuring plenty of space and organisation in this small bag. Compartments were a love of Mademoiselle Coco.
* There are often confusions over the different names of the bags. There's the Classic, the 2.55, the Reissue (from the Karl Lagerfeld era), ... If you're buying vintage, make sure you do your research!
* Although you can get the new reissue in stores, this is one of few bags to get more valuable the older they get. A good quality vintage is actually a great investment!

Over time, this bag has come in endless different models, colours and fabrics, but no version is more classic than the black leather with gold hardware. A true classic, and we have a vintage 90's model in excellent condition available on HFS now... but probably not for long! See listing here.

Fashions Night Out

Manolo Blahnik collection for Liberty's of London!
Fashions Night Out was a night to remember, not only was it a celebration of fashion across the globe but it was the birth of the High Fashion Society website. The team from HFS hit the streets of London and spread the word amongst the Fashions Night Out attendees about the new online hotspot. Our first destination was Libertys of London where we attempted to join the que to get a sneak peek of Manolo Blahnik and his new limited edition collection exclusively for Liberties but we didnt quite make it to meet the man himself after two hours of waiting, time was not on our side and there was so much to do in so little time, however we did get a little snap of the legend and also a few shots of his stunning niece Christina Blahnik looking sexy and demure in a little black number sporting a pair of her Uncles designs on her feet... what a lucky gal!

Next stop was along New Bond Street were the streets were heaving with trendy fashionista's and Fashion Misters, along the way we bumped into the gorgeous Supermodel and Vogue TV presenter Jade Parfitt who also happily posed for our Art of Style gallery, she was wearing an adorable leather black number with floral detailing from Christopher Kane, we managed to give her our contact details in the event that she would want us to sell some of her pre-owned designer pieces... so fingers crossed ...

Outside Emporio Armani was a flock of hungry Papparazzi where famous faces such as Claudia schiffer, Thandie Newton and Felicity Jones mingled with the iconic Giorgio Armani.

Luckily High Fashion Society got an invite to the hottest party of the night at Louis Vuitton where Thandie Newton also made an appearance. Guests were treated to some delicious refreshing non alcohol fruit cocktails in all different flavours from strawberry and kiwi, to apple and ginger whilst shopping and queing up to strike some Vogue poses in their photo booths with bespoke props created especially for the event out of Vogue magazines by designer Fiona Leahy. Unfortunately there were no photos allowed in the store but believe when we tell you this was the ultimate Fashions Night Out party.

A quick pit stop was made at Moschino just of New Bond St where they allowed guests to pose and have photos taken in giant 'I ♥ SHOPPING' bags, their new collection is worth checking out, a few hot buys were spotted in store.

Final stop was Selfridges, we arrived there quite late so missed most of the exciting stuff, but we met Brix Start Smith and picked up some re-usable goody bags from Mulberry that contained blackcurrant flavoured efferescent tablets, a sticker?... and a mask.

To sum up the whole evening in one word 'phenomenal'! if there was one complaint it would be 'so much fun to be had but in so little time'. Thank you Vogue for creating this truly amazing memorable annual event, CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!!! We better start thinking up some ideas for High Fashion Society's 1st birthday for the next Fashions night out, feel free to post your suggestions.

xoxo
